Spring Bike Cleaning

Soon it will be spring in Copenhagen (hopefully) which means more people will be riding their bikes. To make room for all the seasonal riders, workplaces, stores, and cities are working to identify and remove abandoned bikes.

The city of Copenhagen does this by putting a piece of yellow tape around the tire and fender of a bike that seems abandoned. This method is good because you can't ride your bike while it's still taped; no one will accidentally keep the tape on their bike. After a certain amount of time has passed, the city removes bikes that are still sitting there with tape on them.

In the bike garage at CBS, they put tags on all the bikes. They also put up signs saying that if your bike still had a tag on it in a month, it would be removed. It's almost the end of the month long period, and there are still a lot of bikes with tags on them, so I expect the number of parking spots will open up shortly.
